Lee Friedlander's Weather Maps

 Paul Kopeikin Gallery

The dynamism of Lee Friedlander is a curious coincidence.  It's a shaft of sunlight grasped striking an empty storefront display window with a chair behind it somehow, and something of the city reflected back a little, or in the background.

Baton Rouge, 1988

Albuquerque (1962)

Not Charles Sheeler's studies for his oil paintings.  Not a dash of symmetry tracing movement episodically.  The town and a jet plane overhead, bare limbs of a tree grown to obscure the view, what things are, where they came from, casual views.
